1 Port JUMP Interface Specifications

 

One of the nice things about the parallel port interface is that the wiring is so simple that most of it can be fit inside the case of a parallel port hood/case. If you only plan on using one game controller at a time with your computer, then by using a JUMP connector at the end, you can keep using your controller with its original console and can also adapt several different controllers in case you want to switch which controller you're using on your computer. 

 

 

It should be noted that any pins from 4 - 9 on the PC side can be used to supply the power for the controller. You could actually use just one of these pins or all six if you choose. I picked the three in the middle because that should supply more than enough power for any normal controller without making the design unnecessarily difficult to build. If you build the interface and notice odd behavior from the joystick, then you should probably connect one or more additional power pins.  

Here are some pictures of the single port interface I built. All the guts fit inside a 25-pin gender changer hood. After all, it's all wires and diodes...easy enough...
